DIGICON FIRST IN CANADA FOR A B Graphic International Ltd AND PAZAZZ
A B Graphic International Ltd, Inc. has supplied Phase 2 Labels, integrated company of Pazazz Printing, Montreal, with an Omega Digicon HS Converting line for digitally printed webs. The line joins the company’s new, HP Indigo 4500 digital print engine as part of a joint one million Dollar investment programme.
The Digicon HS provides Phase 2 Labels with a wide range of label finishing and decorating options that include die cutting, laminating, hot foil stamping and sheeting.  Commenting on the investment, Warren Werbitt, President and CEO of Pazazz said, “Our clients were increasingly requesting the option for short-run, flexible, colour printing – often with variable data or personalisation.  Not only did we answer their call, but we also tracked down the finest equipment the industry has to offer.”

Founded in 1992, Pazazz is a full-service independent printer with offices in New York and Shanghai. Phase 2, Pazazz’s label company specialises in flexographic and digital label production and is the first label converter in Canada to purchase an Omega Digicon HS that includes sheeting capability. Continues Werbitt; “We’re excited to offer faster turnaround, superior colour quality and more flexible packaging options on shrink sleeves, variable data printing and a variety of other substrates. Besides offering a competitive edge in marketing, digital label production is the perfect complement to our current flexographic tools. Now we have it all!”

Adds Al Spendlow, VP of A B Graphic International Ltd, “We are delighted to have been the supplier of choice to Phase 2 Labels and in having supplied our first Digicon equipped with sheeting capability in Canada. The new equipment combined with the HP Indigo 4500 will enable them to produce a wide variety of digitally produced labels with a fast turnaround in the high quality markets they serve.”

The Omega Digicon uses flexible, servo driven tooling technology optimised for minimising waste and set-up times and is capable of running a wide range of materials.  Depending on the requirements, options include a UV flexo station for varnishing, wet laminating, cold foil, self wound over laminating, over laminating with carrier, super varnishing, in-feed nip modules, unwind unit for off-line use, daylight correction system and semi rotary silk screen in single or multiple combinations.

A B Graphic International Ltd manufactures label converting and finishing machines and is a leading supplier to the graphic arts industry. The company supports an international customer base with facilities in the United States, the UK, Netherlands, Spain and Germany. In the recent years A B Graphic International Ltd has seen significant growth in the supply of its Digicon systems for converting digitally printed webs. The company’s range of Omega converting lines and Vectra turret rewinders continue to evolve to meet the changing demands of the packaging industry. More recent additions to its product range include laser die cutting technology, off-line RFID application systems and new laminating and rewind systems for film and flexible packaging applications.
