MORE AUTOMATION TO COMPETE
UK based label converting equipment manufacturer, A B Graphic International Ltd., is pulling all the stops out for Pacprint 2009 and believes the Australian event will be of significant importance to its activities in the Southern Hemisphere. The main theme of its presence at the show will be cost savings for the label converter.
Recognising that universally, portable printers are becoming more streamlined and efficient and that demand for smaller finished roll label sizes is increasing, the company is revealing a range of products aimed at providing greater automation to remain competitive as margins become tighter.

"The demand for smaller finished roll label sizes and shorter lead times puts additional pressure on the manufacturing operation," says Mark Hyde, Sales Manager, Australia and New Zealand. "We are seeing that finishing smaller rolls is a very labour intensive process with some converting machinery standing idle more than it is running. Pacprint gives us the opportunity to show visitors from the region an Omega converting line die cutting from a 410mm (16") wide master reel coupled with the Vectra STR 410-4 turret rewinder producing small rolls on 19mm (3/4") cores.

The company will also feature its new generation of core loaders and demonstrate the accuracy of core positioning on the rewind mandrel to increase productivity while allowing the operator to package the finished product while the machine continues to operate

"As paper prices continue to rise along with a global recession, converters are not able to pass added cost pressure on to their customers. The speed and efficiency of the Omega and Vectra equipment enables the user to increase productivity by converting wider roll at higher speeds." concludes Hyde.
